Album Notes & Community Reviews
Rebounding from the commercial failure of the highly experimental 'Dazzle Ships', OMD fully embraced digital sampling and Caribbean rhythms to craft a vibrant, accessible pop record. Heavily utilizing the Fairlight CMI and E-mu Emulator, the arrangements feature sampled brass, steel drums, and upbeat melodies that contrast with the band's traditionally melancholic lyricism. The success of singles like 'Locomotion' revitalized their commercial standing in Europe.
