Album Notes & Community Reviews

The Chicago-born songwriter gained national prominence by penning original vocalese lyrics to established instrumental jazz hits like 'Watermelon Man' and 'Dat Dere'. The deeply satirical and socially conscious material confronted contemporary racial politics while retaining a commercially accessible, theatrical delivery.
