Back Street Crawler

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Following the fragmented dissolution of Free, the troubled but profoundly gifted guitarist assembled various friends—including former bandmate Paul Rodgers and John Martyn—for this loose, heavily improvisational solo venture. Divided largely into extensive, slow-burning jams, the record highlights his signature, vibrato-laden phrasing and deeply emotional playing style. Though overshadowed by his struggles with addiction, the album remains a poignant, unvarnished testament to his extraordinary feel for the blues.
