Album Notes & Community Reviews

Seeking a more expansive, muscular sound for their sophomore effort, Penetration leaned heavily into classic hard rock dynamics on 'Coming Up for Air'. Pauline Murray's distinctive, powerful vocals remain compelling, but the production smooths out the frantic punk energy of their debut in favor of polished, radio-oriented new wave. The stylistic shift led to internal friction, resulting in the band's dissolution shortly after its release.
