Album Notes & Community Reviews
Featuring the pioneering electric piano work of Lonnie Liston Smith, Pharoah Sanders's 'Thembi' is a staggeringly beautiful, deeply transcendent spiritual jazz achievement. The album balances wonderfully mellow, incredibly lush modal jazz ballads with remarkably complex, highly atmospheric free-jazz improvisations, creating an intensely warm, deeply moving instrumental atmosphere.
