Album Notes & Community Reviews
Matthew Houck completely stripped away the sprawling full-band arrangements of his earlier work for this incredibly intimate, haunting collection of weird-Americana. Backed by sparse percussion and eerie, multi-tracked vocal choirs, the record evokes a deeply spiritual, nocturnal atmosphere rooted in southern gothic folk traditions.
