The Black Album

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Infamously shelved just days before its scheduled release, 'The Black Album' is an incredibly dark, intensely rhythmic exploration of hardcore funk and early hip-hop aesthetics. Prince abandons the spiritual pop crossover of his previous work to deliver deeply sexual, aggressive grooves loaded with pitch-shifted vocals, heavy drum machines, and biting humor. The heavily bootlegged record remains a legendary, nocturnal testament to his rawest, most hedonistic impulses.
