Album Notes & Community Reviews

Released long before their Britpop superstardom, the Sheffield band's debut offers a quaint, mostly acoustic foray into whimsical indie pop. A remarkably young Jarvis Cocker delivers soft, folk-inflected reflections on youth and romantic longing, contrasting sharply with the synthesizer-dominated landscape of the era. The pastoral, low-budget production reveals the humble origins of one of Britain's most celebrated lyricists.
