Album Notes & Community Reviews

Originally commissioned as a live theatrical score, the compositions musically interpret the brief, turbulent life of the controversial Austrian Expressionist painter. The minimalist trio of viola, cello, and piano constructs a deeply evocative, impressionistic atmosphere without relying on percussion or vocals. It stands as a pivotal moment in the American post-rock movement's embrace of neoclassical chamber structures.
