Spectral Evolution

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Marking a significant synthesis of his career, Rafael Toral's 'Spectral Evolution' merges the jazz-inflected phrasing of his 'Space Program' electronics with the drone-centric guitar textures of his earlier work. The album unfolds as a continuous suite where lush, slow-moving jazz harmonies and ghostly feedback interact with a detailed tapestry of synthetic, bird-like sounds generated from custom-built instruments. This approach creates an immersive and elusive soundscape that intentionally blurs the distinction between organic and artificial sources, exploring musical language through a seamless and evolving electronic performance.
