On 'Traveling Light', Rafael Toral boldly moves from the abstract forms of his previous work to concrete compositions, reinterpreting a set of classic jazz standards through his unique sonic lens. The album continues the framework established on 'Spectral Evolution', combining Toral's methodologies by augmenting traditional song structures with elongated harmonies created by his self-made electronic machines, sine waves, and feedback. Featuring his guitar and bass alongside contributions from guest horn and woodwind players, the album deconstructs familiar melodies into ambient, meditative soundscapes that feel both strange and reverent.
