Album Notes & Community Reviews
Blending highly angular, Monk-inspired piano dissonance with deep, fiercely rhythmic African influences, this Greenwich Village performance significantly expanded the structural boundaries of hard bop. The fiercely intelligent, deeply percussive compositions heralded the arrival of a highly unique and formidable modern jazz voice.
