Album Notes & Community Reviews

A deeply intimate trio session, 'The Nearness of You' leans heavily into melancholic ballads and slow-burning standards. Red Garland's delicate touch, signature block chords, and sophisticated harmonic substitutions take center stage, resulting in one of the most reflective and emotionally resonant albums in his expansive discography.
