Marking a massive structural departure, the symphonic rock veterans completely abandoned live orchestral accompaniment in favor of extensive modern synthesizers for this release. The compositions were noticeably shortened to appeal to radio formats, transitioning heavily into a polished progressive pop aesthetic. Despite Annie Haslam's enduringly brilliant vocal performances, the stylistic shift disappointed many of their long-standing progressive purist fans.
