Biography
Renaissance is an English progressive rock band formed in London in 1969 by former *Yardbirds* members Keith Relf and Jim McCarty, with John Hawken, Louis Cennamo and Jane Relf. After the original lineup's two albums, a classic second lineup of Annie Haslam, Michael Dunford, John Tout, Jon Camp and Terence Sullivan defined the band's sound, combining Haslam's wide-ranging voice with classical, folk, rock and jazz influences on albums such as 'Ashes Are Burning' and 'Scheherazade and Other Stories', and the 1978 UK top ten hit 'Northern Lights'. The band split in 1987 and has re-formed twice, most recently under Haslam from 2009.
