Illusion

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Recorded during a period of massive internal fracturing, the second album by the original lineup (founded by ex-Yardbirds Jim McCarty and Keith Relf) was pieced together as the band dissolved. Despite the chaotic production circumstances, the resulting music is gorgeously sophisticated, blending delicate folk-rock with sweeping, piano-led classical motifs. Its limited initial release in Germany turned it into a highly prized rarity before the band's total reinvention.
