Album Notes & Community Reviews
Despite being an incredibly in-demand sideman for Charles Mingus and Gigi Gryce, this session marks the trumpeter's sole outing as a leader. Characterized by a fat, remarkably warm tone and blindingly fast execution, his performance here highlights a tragically under-recorded talent operating at the absolute peak of the hard bop era.
