Produced by David Kahne, the San Francisco band's final studio album polished their angular post-punk roots into a highly sophisticated, dance-oriented new wave sound. Debora Iyall's distinctively deadpan, intensely poetic vocal delivery remains the focal point, slicing through driving basslines and bright synthesizer stabs.
