Album Notes & Community Reviews

Compiling pivotal early sessions recorded in the late 1960s, 'Old / Quartet' is a crucial document of the AACM (Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians) movement. Roscoe Mitchell leads his ensemble through intense, highly abstract free jazz improvisations that completely deconstruct traditional acoustic frameworks.
