Stormcock

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Roy Harper's 'Stormcock' is a progressive folk album structured around four extended, multi-part compositions that showcase his complex acoustic guitar work. The songs feature dense, poetic lyrics tackling themes of religion, war, and social critique, which are further elevated by the dramatic orchestral arrangements of David Bedford. Featuring a notable guest guitar performance by Jimmy Page (credited as S. Flavius Mercurius), the album is recognized for its ambitious fusion of intimate folk performance with a grand, symphonic scope.
