Esperanto
by Ryuichi Sakamoto
Originally commissioned by avant-garde choreographer Molissa Fenley, this highly experimental solo project embraces the nascent capabilities of digital sampling. Sakamoto utilizes the Fairlight CMI to radically manipulate vocal fragments, traditional instruments, and abrasive industrial noises, assembling them into complex, fragmented rhythmic structures. 'Esperanto' acts as a challenging, futuristic bridge between his pop-oriented Yellow Magic Orchestra work and his later cinematic composing.
