Album Notes & Community Reviews

Sade's stunningly poised debut album effectively defined the highly polished, jazz-inflected aesthetics of 1980s sophisti-pop. Sade Adu's smoky, effortlessly cool vocal delivery glides over remarkably smooth, sensual arrangements of fretless bass, warm saxophones, and subtle percussion. 'Diamond Life' is an intensely romantic, deeply nocturnal, and commercially triumphant masterpiece of quiet storm R&B.
