Album Notes & Community Reviews
Recorded with a massive, all-saxophone ensemble, Sam Rivers conducts a swirling, polyrhythmic masterclass in free-jazz large-group orchestration. The complete lack of a traditional rhythm section forces highly innovative, challenging harmonic interplay amongst the dense woodwind arrangements.
