Album Notes & Community Reviews

The veteran avant-garde saxophonist and composer commands a massive, highly energized big band for this complex modern jazz recording. 'Culmination' brilliantly organizes the chaotic, dissonant elements of free jazz into tightly arranged, swinging orchestral structures driven by heavily layered brass and rhythmic jazz-funk grooves. The album serves as a definitive showcase of his demanding, highly intellectual approach to large-ensemble composition.
