Power of the Night

Marking their major-label debut on Atlantic Records, the Florida group enlisted legendary producer Max Norman to tighten and polish their aggressive sound. 'Power of the Night' tempers their raw early power metal with more traditional, hook-driven heavy metal structures, highlighted by Jon Oliva's shrieking vocals and his brother Criss's innovative guitar heroics. The album successfully expanded their audience while maintaining a distinctly darker, heavier edge than their glam peers.
