Aveilut
by Scarcity
The debut from Scarcity, 'Aveilut' is a single, continuous 45-minute composition that merges experimental black metal with drone and modern classical concepts. Conceived by composer Brendon Randall-Myers as a meditation on grief, the album utilizes microtonal harmonies and layered, tremolo-picked guitars to create a dense, dissonant, and hypnotic wall of sound. Vocalist Doug Moore of Pyrrhon provides a raw, shrieking performance that cuts through the intricate instrumentation, guiding the listener through the work's thematic explorations of death and loss.
