Serving as a significant departure from his extensive history of synthesizer drone works, the American composer turned entirely toward acoustic instrumentation for this project. Layering dozens of recordings of himself playing violin, piano, and cello, the album evokes incredibly warm, minimalist neoclassical arrangements reminiscent of early Steve Reich.
