Album Notes & Community Reviews
Signaling a definitive transitional era for the Finnish metal stalwarts, 'Amok' sees Sentenced actively abandoning their early death metal roots for a highly melodic, traditionally structured heavy metal approach. The album heavily incorporates gothic atmospheres, melancholic lead guitar harmonies, and noticeably clearer vocal deliveries. This pivot laid the vital groundwork for the gloomy, "suicide metal" aesthetic that would subsequently define their massive commercial success.
