Sérgio Godinho recorded his debut album in April 1971 at the Strawberry Studio in Château d'Hérouville, France, with José Mário Branco producing and playing. Its coded protest lyrics drew the attention of the Estado Novo censors, who repeatedly had 'Os Sobreviventes' removed from Portuguese shops.
