Album Notes & Community Reviews

Structurally divided into two distinct halves separated by a 36-second silence, '()' presents eight untitled tracks that transition from a lighter, optimistic first section to a bleaker, more melancholic second part. Co-produced by the band and Ken Thomas, the album is noted for its raw, atmospheric sound, foregoing polished production for a more immediate feel achieved in the band's Sundlaugin studio. Jónsi Birgisson’s vocals are performed entirely in the non-lexical, improvised language of 'Hopelandic,' treating the voice as an instrument and reinforcing the work's thematic openness to listener interpretation.
