Album Notes & Community Reviews

After being 'rediscovered' in a hospital in 1964, Skip James recorded this sparse, haunting session. He employs his idiosyncratic, open D-minor guitar tuning and chilling falsetto to recreate his 1931 Paramount recordings, preserving the distinct, eerie sound of the Bentonia blues school.
