A Quiet Farwell, 2016-2018
by Slauson Malone
Operating at the fringes of the New York sLUms rap movement, the avant-garde producer delivers a haunting, deeply fragmented audio collage. The project weaves obscure jazz, soul, and vocal samples into brief, surrealist hip-hop sketches that explore themes of racial trauma and the end of the world. It is a highly challenging, hypnagogic masterpiece that defies traditional beat-tape conventions.
