Slayer's highly influential debut is a remarkably fast, undeniably evil fusion of NWOBHM guitar melodies and the raw, violent aggression of hardcore punk. Heavily steeped in cartoonish Satanism and occult imagery, the album features incredibly chaotic, screeching solos and Tom Araya's primal, barking vocals. 'Show No Mercy' is a defining, energetic classic that firmly established the sheer brutality of American thrash metal.
