Just for a Day

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Slowdive's debut 'Just for a Day' establishes a foundational shoegaze sound, characterized by the floating dual vocals of Rachel Goswell and Neil Halstead drifting atop lush, layered, and aqueous guitar textures. While its hypnotic and sensuous songs were met with a lukewarm critical reception upon release for their perceived lack of advancement over the band's EPs and occasionally "overgroomed" production, the album has since been recognized as a frequently exceptional and essential document of the genre.
