Album Notes & Community Reviews

Fronted by the charismatic, openly gay, and HIV-positive poet Benjamin, the Atlanta-based collective delivered an incredibly raw, deeply theatrical debut. Fusing Appalachian folk instrumentation with a decadent, Nick Cave-esque dark cabaret atmosphere, the album serves as an emotionally shattering document of Southern queer life during the height of the AIDS crisis.
