Album Notes & Community Reviews
Living up to its title, this album highlights the intricate, highly structured interplay that the tenor saxophonist cultivated with his working quintet. Featuring Bob Brookmeyer on valve trombone, 'Chamber Music' perfectly balances aggressive bebop phrasing with the smooth, intellectual restraint of cool jazz. It is a stunning display of complex counterpoint delivered with apparent effortlessness.
