Album Notes & Community Reviews

Returning to his massive, bombastic 'wall of brass' orchestrations, 'Adventures in Jazz' features Stan Kenton leading a high-powered orchestra that prominently incorporates the mellophonium. The album includes complex, blistering arrangements by Gene Roland and Bill Holman, demanding extreme technical proficiency from the horn sections. It stands as a pinnacle of Kenton's controversial, intensely aggressive approach to progressive big band jazz.
