Album Notes & Community Reviews

Applying his massive, progressive orchestral sound to familiar American repertoire, Stan Kenton presents a slightly more accessible side of his complex arranging style. 'Sketches on Standards' highlights the sheer sonic power and sophisticated brass dissonance of his ensemble while remaining firmly anchored in recognizable, swinging melodies.
