Album Notes & Community Reviews

The outlaw country icon pays heartfelt tribute to his late mentor and friend, the legendary Texas songwriter Townes Van Zandt, with an album entirely comprised of cover songs. The arrangements are relatively sparse, relying on acoustic guitars, harmonicas, and Earle's gravelly vocal delivery to reinterpret the notoriously devastating source material. The project earned a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Folk Album.
