Murals

Album Notes & Community Reviews

On 'Murals', Sun Kil Moon's Mark Kozelek continues his established practice of weaving detailed, spoken-word narratives over sparse musical arrangements. The album’s lyrical focus centers on the world of street art, cataloging artists and exploring the ephemerality of the form, which Kozelek treats as an extension of his own diaristic and observational songwriting. This thematic core allows for sprawling compositions that draw parallels between the public, often anonymous, nature of graffiti and personal, philosophical reflections.
