Sun Kil Moon

Sun Kil Moon is the musical project of singer-songwriter Mark Kozelek, formed in San Francisco in 2002 after the dissolution of his influential band *Red House Painters*. Initially a full band that extended the melancholic folk-rock of his prior work on the acclaimed debut 'Ghosts of the Great Highway', the project has since become Kozelek's primary moniker. Over time, Sun Kil Moon's sound has evolved dramatically, moving from lush, layered arrangements on albums like 'April' to the sparse, classical guitar-driven 'Admiral Fell Promises'. Later work, beginning most notably with the celebrated album 'Benji', adopted a highly detailed, diaristic spoken-word lyrical style over minimalist backing, released on Kozelek's own #Caldo Verde Records# label.
