This record finds Mark Kozelek in a more gentle and melodic space compared to some of his more abrasive recent work. The backing is primarily composed of nylon-string guitar, lending a warmer, more traditional folk quality to the sound. While still featuring his signature stream-of-consciousness monologues, the album has a calmer, more reflective tone, with lyrics focused on nature, love, and domestic life during the COVID-19 pandemic.
