Album Notes & Community Reviews
Compiled from previously unissued studio sessions from 1972 and 1973, 'East Two + 7' provides a critical window into one of Sun Ra's most prolific eras. The archival material features the Arkestra experimenting heavily with idiosyncratic synthesizers and deep, anchoring basslines, particularly highlighting the foundational work of bassist Ronnie Boykins. These recordings document the ensemble's unique intersection of free improvisation, cosmic philosophy, and avant-garde jazz.
