Album Notes & Community Reviews

Spearheaded by producer Bill Laswell and tabla maestro Zakir Hussain, this innovative project constructs a bridge between ancient Indian percussion and modern dance music. 'Tala Matrix' seamlessly integrates virtuosic classical tabla performances with heavy dub basslines, fast-paced drum and bass programming, and atmospheric electronica. The highly successful experiment essentially popularized the 'Asian Underground' sound within western chillout circles.
