Produced by J. Mascis of Dinosaur Jr., the Seattle heavyweights' third full-length album adds slightly more melodic nuance to their famously crushing, lumberjack-sludge aesthetic. Despite the cleaner major-label production, the thundering rhythms and Thomas Doyle's menacing vocals retain all of their menacing, aggressive power.
