Album Notes & Community Reviews

The remarkable sophomore effort from the musicologist and blues revivalist effortlessly bridges the gap between acoustic country blues and electrified soul. Supported brilliantly by guitarist Jesse Ed Davis and pianist Al Kooper, the record modernized traditional material without sacrificing its historical authenticity or rural grit.
