Taj Mahal is a celebrated American blues musician, born Henry Saint Clair Fredericks, renowned for his pioneering fusion of blues with global music traditions. A self-taught multi-instrumentalist, his work over more than five decades has significantly broadened the scope of the genre, incorporating sounds from the Caribbean, Africa, and the Pacific. After co-founding the band *Rising Sons* with *Ry Cooder*, he launched a solo career with his 1968 self-titled debut on #Columbia Records#. His exploratory sound, showcased on albums like 'The Natch'l Blues' and 'Mo' Roots', and his Grammy-winning 'Señor Blues', has cemented his status as a musical innovator and a scholar of roots music.
