Currents

Album Notes & Community Reviews

On 'Currents', Kevin Parker pivots Tame Impala from psychedelic rock towards a meticulously crafted, synth-driven pop and R&B sound. Parker solely wrote, performed, produced, and mixed the album, building songs around synthesizers, electronic drum patterns, and groove-oriented basslines, with guitar taking a more textural role. Thematically, the record explores personal transformation and heartbreak, a concept that resonated widely and secured the project's highest chart positions and mainstream recognition to date.
