Animism

Album Notes & Community Reviews

The acclaimed Canadian Inuit vocalist delivers her most profoundly experimental, terrifyingly powerful album to date, earning the prestigious Polaris Music Prize. 'Animism' completely reinvents traditional throat singing, utilizing incredibly heavy, almost industrial percussion and highly dissonant violin arrangements. The record provides a deeply visceral, incredibly raw, and ferociously passionate exploration of indigenous folklore and environmentalism.
