Album Notes & Community Reviews

Produced by the visionary Charles Stepney, this sublime album perfectly orchestrates the collision of socially conscious folk music and lush Chicago soul. The singer-songwriter's remarkably resonant baritone and delicate acoustic guitar work are elevated by elegant string arrangements and jazz-inflected rhythm sections. Despite limited commercial impact initially, its unique folk-soul hybrid has been extensively celebrated by modern crate-diggers and hip-hop producers.
